A week.....

I can't believe its only a week till my 19th birthday . Just. A. Week. And I am sooooo not prepared to turn 19!!!!! I mean seriously , didn't I just turn 18? Huh?

Okay, so I am not really panicking like the above example.  But, I guess the thing that's worrying me is that 19 is just a step from the big Two-oh and that's kinda scary when you think about it. Isn't it? But, at the same time it also very exciting. :]       Another thing about turning 19 I have no heroine for the year. Yeah each year since I was 16  I have had  a heroine of the same age to look up to and feel a kind of kinship with..

This years being 18  and all it was Rapunzel.

17 was Nancy Drew.

16 Lizel von Trapp

And now I am stuck!!!! I have no book/ movie  girl character who is 19!!!!!

Anyhooo, this week I will spend pondering this past year which has been huge  and being thankful for it all the good and the bad because  in every situation I learn something and I grow. In mind, body  and spirit . And each day I know I am treading my very own path God has made for me  and becoming the woman he want sme to be.

I didn't want to leave....

This! This is what I didn't want to leave this morning. :[ Yes  that right my lovely, delicious, toasty warm bed.  Its one of the most beautiful places in the world I  believe. You dream in it (literally and figuratively) ,read in it, lounge in it, sleep in it, chat to  sisters in their beds from the comfort of your own, and pray.

Not my bed. But, I can dream right?!

I love my bed and I hate leaving it on a cold , frosty morning. :[  At least I'll see it tonight!!!

The Men I love Part one : Orry Main

Like most girls have I imagine, I too have a list of guys real or imaginary  that I am shall we say "in love" with . I like them for various reasons character traits, circumstances I can relate too etc.  We'll begin with:

 Orry Main.
Isn't he handsome?!!?!?!?!?
Orry is from the books and TV series "North and South."  He is the son of a wealthy plantation owner in  South Carolina. He goes to  West Point. During the journey, he meets and falls in love with beautiful New Orleans French-Creole Madeline Fabray.  At the Academy he becomes great friends with George Hazard.  While at the Academy the meet Bent and evil ,twisted man  who instantly hates Orry and  constantly harasses him and punishes him for no reason.  Orry keeps writing letters to Madeline even though she haws not responded. After being gone 2 years Orry returns home on leave.  While home Orry learns that Madeline is to marry Justin  La Motte, who is known to be a cruel man .  After Madeline's wedding Orry and she discover her father hid Orry's letters to her so that she would marry a powerful and wealthy man.     She and he are both devastated  and  now that she  is married they can't even be  a couple or anything like that!!!  Orry returns to the Academy and Madeline begins her life as Mrs. Justin La Motte.

I'm not going to say anything more about the story as it'll spoil it for those who might watch or read  it. :D ( the TV series is better. Just saying)
Orry's character is amazing! He's a real gentlemen,  a hero, and he is just awesome!!! Plus he and Madeline are just so great together.  There is some adult content in it so I would definitely only watch it if you have parental permission, are a very mature person, or over the age of 14 or there abouts.

Now some pictures of the dear guy shall we?!!! ( or should we say couple as Madeline is in all of them but one? )

Aren't they sweet?!?!?!?

That dress is to die for!!!!!

Secrets, secrets, where would the world be without them?

Basically he is awesome, his story is awesome and I am in love with it all and him!!!!!  And I never tire of it! I love his determination and the strength with which he overcomes things. And well, EVERYTHING!!!!!! Do you have a character or story you never tire of?

The Unsinkable!

If you're like me you love a good story, I mean who honestly doesn't?!   The thrill of excitement as you get to a crucial bit in said story, the moment of sadness when a character is  dead or dying.   But , again  if you are like me  you love reading stories about real events. Biography's , novels , they are amazing!!!!    My absolute favourite real life incident to have stories based off is "The Titanic."
Those stories are always amazing, they can be about people from any background but they always end in the climax of : the sinking on   April 15th 1912 "The Unsinkable Titanic" did what many people boasted she wouldn't: She sunk.    My favourite book about the Titanic is  "Voyage on the Great Titanic: The Diary of Margaret Ann Brady, RMS Titanic, 1912 by Ellen Emerson White"
Its awesome a young girl from London England sails as the companion of a rich lady , she is an orphan and is going to America to join her brother there. And this book has everything!    Desperation, distinction between classes and what that entails, friends  who will never see each other again and the sweetest most beautiful sad and gorgeous ending ever!!!! Which I'm not going to tell you as I command you to go and buy/beg/borrow or steal a copy.   Okay I'm not all that heartless here is  Wikipedia's review on it SPOILERS ALERT!

"The story begins in London, England, where a thirteen year old girl, Margaret Ann Brady, is keeping a diary. She explains that her parents died and her brother emigrated to America leaving her in the care of an orphanage. The orphanage receives a request for a travelling companion to accompany Mrs. Carstairs on the RMS Titanic.
The beginning of the trip goes more than smoothly. Margaret meets a handsome young steward, Robert, and befriends him. She thoroughly enjoys the trip, describing how big the Titanic is, and the luxuries of living on it. She has grand meals, and even shares one with some of the most important crew of the Titanic. But the ship crashes into an iceberg and starts to sink slowly. Mrs. Carstairs escapes to safety on a lifeboat, and tells Margaret that they will meet up again soon.
Margaret rushes down the ship and looks for Robert. More and more lifeboats are leaving, but she figures there will be more. Finally, she finds Robert. They chat and share a tender moment. Then they kiss. Margaret pleads for Robert to come with her to safety, but Robert declines stating he cannot leave his fellow stewards.
Once back on top deck, Margaret leaves on the last lifeboat and is the last to board. She and her fellow passengers watch in horror as the grand ship sinks. They hear the cries of the dead as they move on, rescuing a few people from the cold waters. She says that she could not forget the screams of the dead going down with the ship. She also states that she will not forgive herself for letting Robert go, nor for surviving the Titanic.
In New York, Margaret says farewell to Mrs. Carstairs and finds William. They travel to his home in Boston and the story ends. "
And once again if you are like me you are extremely excited that next month is a hundred years since the sinking of "The Unsinkable Titanic"   Do you have a favourite event in history that you enjoy reading about?
Toodles!

Things I love : Swings!!!!!

One of the things I love the most is swinging. :]  I've always loved them and I think I always will, my Mummy still goes on them. :D
There is no right words to describe the feeling you get when swinging.  Excited and Joyful don't quite cut it.  Its both those and more, its a Thrilling Adventure, and (most importantly) a Journey in Poetry and Song.
Because very time I go on a swing I feel like singing, songs I've heard , songs that just pop into my head while swinging or I begin having poetry float about my head. Especially this old poem by Robert Louis Stevenson       "The Swing"

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
                                      Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
                                         Over the countryside--

Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

True Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder? If Only It Always Was.

Whats the first thing you saw when you saw the above picture?      For me it was the magazine in the little girls lap.  Second that the girl was staring at herself in the mirror as if she was disappointed with what she saw and third that  she looks about 11-13 years of age. So young.

How many magazines out there are left right in front of little children to see and think   "Gosh, that's how I should look when I'm older!"
They are left with the impression that they will look exactly like this or that. And you know what for me that's one of the worst things a little kid can think.  Each child, each person young or old is beautiful. Is unique is beautiful.                                         And looking at this picture makes me want to take that little girl in my arms and tell her that shes gorgeous, shes beautiful and that I want to her to always try to be herself and not think off what the media or critical, hurtful; people say to her. She is beautiful, but she doesn't see that. She sees that her lips aren't so, her eyes aren't such and such and that her face is shaped wrong etcetra, etcetra and the list goes on and what is she left feeling? That she beautiful? That she is  lovely? No! She is left feeling disappointed, self conscious and ugly.
In our modern society the above reaction to comparing oneself to a picture from a magazine is all to common.   Children are being taught and told to wear and do things at much younger ages. Girls ( and boys to )  wearing clothing that make them look like teenagers and they behave exactly as they think teenagers should.  What age am I talking about? Oh, if we're being generous I'd like to say eight but lets say the instruction starts when they are 5.  Horrible I know.
When I was 8 I only cared about finishing my school as soon as possible so as to play outside on the trampoline or ride my bike or play Pirates or Indians. Or read a book.      Yet, how may kids do those things now days? Not many lots spend their lives in front of a screen. A screen which projects them with false senses to many things not just their looks, how to act in certain situations. Which lets face it on most screen things movies/TV shows/ computer games etc  gives a wrong take or view on most things.
In short I want (and wish) the magazines in shops were children are going to be where behind the counter away from their innocent eyes.  Which is how it should be, such things which are mostly filled with evil or unloving thoughts about people should be behind the counter with the cigarettes.             Children are only children for so long and then they spend the rest of their lives as adults. I'm going to do my best to try to make the world more child friendly. How about you?

I really want to give that poor little girl a hug, snatch that magazine away from her and tell her she beautiful . That poor little kid. :(

Auditions and joy.

First off I want to say thank you to all the comments I got on my last post: THANK YOU!!!!!

I will be auditioning for the musical "Bad Girls" its a story of a women's prison, and well all the "Bad Girls" who are in it.  Here's a link from Wikipedia on it.  I have to find a song to sing and choose which parts to audition for and try to understand the characters a bit better.  A dear friend who has been involved in this kind of stuff before has offered to give me a training session on Skype. :D  I am very excited and even if I don't get a part its a good experience and its also fun!          I know theres going to be a lot of competition, its a musical about "Bad Girls" so I 'm betting there will be TONS of other girls auditioning, you know what I don't care.   I'm just gonna do my best and enjoy the adventure and just see where it goes. It may end after the audition or it could go on longer.   Either way, I'm going to be happy and enjoy it.
A poster of said musical

Could all you charming people please pray for me that it all goes well?   Thank you I love you all, and I really mean that. When I say I love you it means I DO love you.

Look for a post on My Deb. Ball very soon.  :D

"Skyscraper"

I sooooo love this song!  "Skyscraper"  for me is a song about even when you feel broken , worn or just plain awful to stand tall ,be you and be proud of being you and what you have overcome.
In the past year Demi Lovato has overcome quite a few issues which have been challenging her for most of her life. She decided to do something about it and with help has become a much happier and more confident person.  For me she is inspirational, if a celebrity , who has millions of people watching their each move can accept and overcome their problems, and then tell those millions what they are , surely I one person can accept my problems and overcome them? No matter how small they are or seem to be.

This song is one of 18 songs I have made a playlist of and put on my Mp4 player.   I called the playlist  the  "Happy playlist" and its a collection of songs which I find inspirational , and encouraging.  For me to listen to when I feel down.   And this one is like in the top 5 of that playlist that get played all the time. In fact its number 1.

What do you think? Do you like this song? Do you have a song that you listen to to encourage you?

TEN Things that irratate and annoy me

1.People telling me what I should be doing and how to do it.

2.Background music on blogs, as I often try to go on blogger at night when little kids are in bed and the music spooks me out and make me jump out of my skin.  As its unexpected.

 3. When I'm listening to music and some one turns it down.

4. High pitched whistling.  It just grates against my nerves.

5. People messing up a room I've just tidied .

6. Crummy lyrics in songs. Like if its baout icecream its just like 'I love my icecream its so great , gonna eat it tonight on a date . With the girl of my life. Nanananana! Ohhhhhhh Yeah!"   Awful!!!!!!! And I just made that up.

7.   Picture books that are supoosed to be read to little kids to teach them basic things which shouldn't be a book, like how to go to the toilet. Gosh! How dumb are some people! Its ina little room and when you need to go you go! Simple!!!  Kids aren't dumb!

8.Peopel wearing mismatched clothes, or clothes that just make them look frumpy. I just want to grab them and give them a free make over .  That would be nice wouldn't it?

9. When I wake up and Julia Gillard is Prime Minister. Gosh! Can't wait till shes kicked out in the next election. What a happy day that will be! :D

10. People who dislike chips. I love chips! Must be my British heritage. But, who couldn't like these?
