A week.....

I can't believe its only a week till my 19th birthday . Just. A. Week. And I am sooooo not prepared to turn 19!!!!! I mean seriously , didn't I just turn 18? Huh?

Okay, so I am not really panicking like the above example.  But, I guess the thing that's worrying me is that 19 is just a step from the big Two-oh and that's kinda scary when you think about it. Isn't it? But, at the same time it also very exciting. :]       Another thing about turning 19 I have no heroine for the year. Yeah each year since I was 16  I have had  a heroine of the same age to look up to and feel a kind of kinship with..

This years being 18  and all it was Rapunzel.

17 was Nancy Drew.

16 Lizel von Trapp

And now I am stuck!!!! I have no book/ movie  girl character who is 19!!!!!

Anyhooo, this week I will spend pondering this past year which has been huge  and being thankful for it all the good and the bad because  in every situation I learn something and I grow. In mind, body  and spirit . And each day I know I am treading my very own path God has made for me  and becoming the woman he want sme to be.

Ta Ta Darlings!!!

Favorite Heroines #1 Anne Shirley prt2

After trying to remember all this movie I decided to just copy Wikipedia's  review.  We  don't have it on DvD so I couldn't even rewatch it!  Boohoohoo. Maybe I can get it from ...... somewhere . Anyway  here  at long last is part two.

The film resumes the story of Anne Shirley, who at 16 had chosen to study for her college degree by correspondence in order to remain at Green Gables to help an aging Marilla, who has eyesight problems, look after the house and farm.
Anne now holds a Teacher's Licence after completing the two-year post-secondary course at Charlottetown's Queens Academy in only one year.
Gotta love that hair
Anne begins to teach at Avonlea School and has dreams of becoming a writer, but her story “Averil’s Atonement” is rejected by a magazine. Leaving the post office one day, Anne runs into Gilbert Blythe, who tells her that her best friend Diana is engaged to Fred Wright. Anne is initially bewildered by Diana’s decision, calling it impulsive. Meanwhile, in the last two years, Marilla’s eyesight has greatly improved. Having regained her independence, Marilla encourages Anne to resume her old ambition of attending college.
At the clambake celebrating Fred and Diana’s engagement, Anne and Gilbert wander off to a bridge, where Gilbert proposes. Anne rejects his offer, convinced that their marriage would be unhappy and unsuccessful. She runs off.
At Diana’s wedding, Anne sees Gilbert with a young woman named Christine Stuart. Gilbert tells Anne that he and Christine are just friends, then offers to wait for her if there is any hope of them getting together. Anne rejects him again, and Gilbert suspects that there is someone else, despite Anne's assertion there is no person she cares about more than him.
Anne returns to Green Gables and decides to look into the job her former teacher Miss Muriel Stacey offered her. Eventually, Anne decides to take this job as an English teacher at Kingsport  Ladies’ College in the hope that it will inspire her and give her something to write about.
Every inch a lady/teacher/author
Initially, Anne finds her new job to be difficult. A member of the local community - and member of the powerful Pringle family - had also tried for Anne’s post and was rejected, causing resentment. However, Anne gradually earns the respect of her students, their families and her colleagues, including the severe Katherine Brooke and the Pringle family. Her dream of being published is also finally achieved after she writes a series of short stories based on Avonlea inspired by a suggestion from Gilbert.
While teaching at the Ladies' College, Anne grows close to one student, Emmeline Harris, and is welcomed by Emmeline's entire family, including her widowed father who also proposes marriage.
I love this part on the movie
Anne declines his proposal and returns to Green Gables, where she learns that Gilbert is ill with Scarlet Fever Anne finally realizes her true feelings for Gilbert, and goes to visit him. After Gilbert regains his health, he proposes once more, and Anne accepts him with a kiss, declaring, "I don't want sunbursts or marble halls, I just want you."

So there you go (finally part 2)  Part three will be here soon.  Trust me.

Favorite Heroines # 1: Anne Shirley. Prt. One.

Hello all! I shall be doing a series of posts called 'Favorite Heroines. It will be posts about my favorite heroines from movies. Some of the posts will be in several parts, like this one. My first part on Anne Shirley. I hope you enjoy them.

How would you feel if you had never known a family or love ?
Imagine how Anne Shirley felt.

Anne , don't you love her smile?
Orphaned from babyhood she has lived with many people but has never had a 'home' as they only keep her for the work she does for them.   She's been in and out of orphanage's all her life and at thirteen dreams of a home where she'll be loved .    She has no friend but her reflection whom she calls 'Katie.'

Anne and Marilla.
She eventually is adopted by an elderly couple who are brother and sister, Matthew and Marilla Cutthbert .    She makes a friend the same age, Diana Barry, with whom she walks to and from school each day and  they also become 'bosom friends.'
Anne at school trying to ignore Gilbert.
At school a boy Gilbert Blythe calls Anne 'carrots' hinting to her red hair she hates. She becomes angry and breaks her slate over his head.   So we see she has a fiery temper, not her best character trait.    She says she will never talk to Gilbert again.

Anne with Diana.
At sixteen Anne has big dreams,  to become a teacher and marry the man of her dreams.      She still however likes   to have fun and dream and imagine.     She and her girl friends decide to reenact Tennyson's the Lady of Shallot, with Anne playing Elaine.    She is pushed out in the boat which when it reaches the middle of the pond , sinks. She nearly drowns but, is saved by the person she she would rather had not come along...... Gilbert Blythe!!!!!!!!                 After her rescue she agrees to be friends.
Anne after being rescued by Gilbert.

Next Anne goes to college to become a teacher.    After her graduation , when back on holiday Matthew dies.    Anne and Marilla draw very, very close after Matthews death.   Without Marilla  knowing Anne decides to do her courses by correspondence and teach in the next towns school.
Gilbert however arranges with the trustees to allow him and Anne to switch schools so she may be closer to Marilla.

Gilbert comes and tells Anne of the exchange, she is very grateful to him and he tells her that the only reason  he ever called her 'carrots' was because he wanted to meet her so much.       They walk off holding hands.
Finally friends!
